Duncan Coral (Duncanopsammia axifuga) is a standout LPS that combines visual impact with genuine ease of care. Each large polyp extends fully during daylight hours to reveal vibrant colors – typically green, teal, or yellow, with contrasting oral discs – that rival more demanding corals at a fraction of the difficulty. Colonies grow on branching stalks and respond dramatically to supplemental feeding, visibly swelling their tentacles around meaty foods within minutes of introduction. Target feed 2-3 times per week with small meaty foods for accelerated growth and improved coloration. Duncan prefers moderate indirect lighting and gentle, non-laminar flow. It is peaceful toward non-adjacent corals and does not produce significant sweeper tentacles. An excellent show coral that rewards consistent care with steady, impressive growth.
