Bluehead Fairy Wrasse

The Bluehead Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus cyanopleura) is among the more accessible and rewarding members of its genus – males display a striking combination of deep blue along the head and dorsal surface transitioning to magenta and red along the flanks, while females present in soft lavender and pink. Fairy wrasses are active, mid-water swimmers that animate the upper reef with constant movement and color. They are reef safe with all corals and generally peaceful toward dissimilar tank mates; males will compete with one another, so keep one male per system or in very large displays. Like all wrasses, they are jumpers – a well-fitted lid is essential. Feed a varied diet of small meaty frozen foods including mysis and enriched brine shrimp. A natural, graceful addition to any reef display.
