After deciding on a reef system, the client chose acrylic construction over traditional glass for two critical reasons: enhanced safety considerations and superior structural integrity. Temperature stability is maintained through an integrated chiller and heater combination. After completing the plumbing and equipment installation, the aquarium was filled with saltwater and the cycling process began. The system ran continuously to build beneficial bacterial colonies and stabilize water parameters before introducing livestock.
The custom LED lighting system was installed and programmed to simulate natural reef conditions. While the system matured, custom furniture and cabinetry were fabricated to complete the architectural integration.
With the system fully cycled, our team began creating the reef structure. Live rock was arranged to create caves, overhangs, and plateaus for fish territories and coral attachment. We introduced a diverse variety of corals selected for their visual appeal, compatibility, and placement requirements.
With the reef structure established and the custom cabinetry installed—featuring stained wood covering on both the top and bottom units—the aquarium was ready for its final inhabitants. The final phase involved introducing carefully selected fish species. Each fish was chosen for its coloration, behavior, and peaceful temperament to ensure harmonious cohabitation.
Species selection considered not just aesthetics but also ecological roles—herbivores to control algae growth, planktivores to add movement throughout the water column, and bottom-dwelling species to utilize all vertical zones.
