Banana Wrasse

The Banana Wrasse (Thalassoma lutescens) is a fast-moving, visually dynamic fish whose initial phase features vivid yellow-green coloration that deepens to electric blue-green with pink facial markings in terminal males – a remarkable transformation worth waiting for. It is an active, free-swimming species that covers the entire water column and requires a large, open aquarium of at least 125 gallons with a tight-fitting lid; this wrasse is an accomplished jumper. Banana Wrasses will consume ornamental invertebrates including snails, shrimp, and small crustaceans – not suitable for reef or invert-focused systems. Feed a varied carnivore diet of frozen meaty foods. A high-energy, visually rewarding fish best suited to a large FOWLR display with robust, similarly-sized tank mates.
