Green Toadstool

The Green Toadstool (Sarcophyton trocheliophorum) is one of the most structurally distinctive soft corals available. Its thick, mushroom-shaped stalk supports a wide, ruffled cap that can span over a foot in mature colonies, densely covered in small polyps that extend to create a shimmering, textured surface. The green coloration – ranging from olive to bright lime under actinic lighting – adds warmth and depth to the reef composition. This is an undemanding coral: it tolerates moderate light, adapts to a range of flow conditions, and is broadly compatible with most reef inhabitants. Like other leathers, it periodically sheds its outer waxy layer as part of healthy growth – normal behavior that resolves within a few days without intervention. An excellent anchor specimen for large displays.
