Hammer Coral

Hammer Coral (Euphyllia ancora) is among the most recognizable and sought-after LPS corals in the hobby. Its distinctive T-shaped tentacle tips – resembling a row of hammers or anchors – extend dramatically during daylight hours, creating a flowing, anemone-like effect that draws the eye to any area of the aquascape. Available in wall and branching growth forms, with colors spanning chartreuse green, gold, purple, and striking bicolor combinations. Hammer Corals prefer moderate, indirect lighting and gentle, non-laminar flow; direct high-velocity flow causes tentacle retraction and stress. Maintain generous spacing from neighboring corals – its sweeper tentacles are among the most aggressive in the LPS category. Feed once or twice weekly with small meaty foods for optimal growth and coloration.
