Mexican Turbo Snails

Mexican Turbo Snails (Turbo fluctuosa) are among the most effective algae-grazing invertebrates available, capable of consuming significant quantities of hair algae, film algae, and filamentous growth from rock and glass surfaces. Their large, robust shells and powerful foot allow them to work across vertical surfaces and difficult terrain where smaller snails cannot reach. A staple of the cleaning crew in any reef system, particularly during the establishment phase when algae growth is most aggressive. Turbo Snails require stable alkalinity and calcium for shell maintenance; supplement with reef-standard two-part or calcium reactor dosing. They are vigorous movers and will occasionally displace small frags or unsecured items – provide adequate open substrate. Best kept in groups proportional to tank size.
