Pectinia

Pectinia is an underappreciated LPS coral that rewards closer inspection with intricate surface detail: its skeleton features tall, blade-like ridges and deep valleys that create dramatic shadow and relief in the aquascape. Colors typically run from earthy greens and browns to more vibrant yellows in high-light placements. Pectinia is a free-living, boulder-form coral that prefers placement on a flat surface away from aggressive neighbors – it lacks sweeper tentacles but is sensitive to chemical aggression from soft corals and other LPS. It feeds actively at night on fine particulate matter; supplemental feeding with reef-grade plankton preparations is beneficial. Water flow should be gentle and indirect, replicating the low-energy environments this coral naturally inhabits.
