Puffy Red Acan

The Puffy Red Acan (Acanthastrea / Micromussa spp.) delivers some of the most saturated, jewel-like color available in the LPS category. Each large polyp expands into a fleshy, rounded form during the day, displaying richly pigmented shades of red, orange, and burgundy that intensify under blue spectrum lighting. These are photosynthetic corals that also benefit significantly from supplemental feeding – small meaty foods offered 2-3 times per week result in noticeably faster growth and more vibrant coloration. They prefer moderate, indirect lighting and low to moderate flow; direct high-velocity current inhibits full polyp extension. Acan lords are peaceful toward non-adjacent corals but will produce sweeper tentacles if space is violated – plan your placement accordingly.
