The Sixline Wrasse (Pseudocheilinus hexataenia) is a compact, brilliantly colored wrasse whose six horizontal magenta lines on a blue-green body make it one of the most visually striking small fish in the hobby. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, it serves a genuine functional role in the reef: it actively hunts and consumes pyramidellid snails, parasitic flatworms, and small nuisance worms that target corals and clams – making it a valuable biological control agent in established reef systems. Sixlines are confident, assertive fish for their size and will challenge tank mates they perceive as competition for territory or food; avoid pairing with other small, peaceful wrasses in limited space. Feed a varied diet of small frozen meaty foods. Reef safe with all corals.
