Zebra Barred Dartfish

The Zebra Barred Dartfish (Ptereleotris zebra), also known as the Zebra Dartfish or Bar Goby, is a slender, graceful fish marked with fine pink-to-orange horizontal banding on a pale body, with a distinctive elongated first dorsal ray. Despite the common name, its markings are more subtle and elegant than bold stripes – it hovers in open water above the substrate in characteristic dartfish fashion, retreating rapidly into a burrow at any perceived threat. Zebra Dartfish are best kept in groups of three or more, which encourages natural hovering behavior and reduces individual stress; a single specimen may spend excessive time hiding. Reef safe and peaceful with all corals and invertebrates. A secure lid is essential – dartfish are accomplished jumpers. Feed small meaty frozen foods including mysis and enriched brine shrimp.
