Zoanthid Colony

Zoanthids (Zoanthus spp., Palythoa spp.) represent one of the broadest and most coveted categories in reef keeping. Colonies form dense, spreading mats of individual polyps, each presenting a distinct color pattern – from electric greens and blues to deep reds, purples, and striking bicolor combinations. They are photosynthetic and hardy, tolerating moderate light and a range of flow conditions, and grow rapidly in favorable conditions. Some named morphs carry significant collector value, and a well-curated Zoanthid display can rival any SPS wall in visual drama. They are generally peaceful but can release palytoxin if disturbed or fragged – standard reef-safe handling precautions apply.
